Noah, Voxy Design Sketches

The Noah was designed with the concept of "proud, modern and high quality" and "dignified and aggressive", while the Voxy was designed with the concept of "radical and unique", which highlight the three unique worlds that emphasize its features.

As far back as I can remember, our family car was a minivan. So to me, a car is a minivan, and my dream was to become a car designer. This is my childhood memory. Designing the Noah/Voxy took me back to my roots and made my dream come true. I created the design imagining children in the future loading up this car full with their dreams.

The fun part about designing an interior, is to put all the different pieces together like in a puzzle to construct one harmonious space. Finding ways to make the interior feel more spacious than it actually is was like a fun game to play.

It happened just before my honeymoon. The idea I had been working on was rejected and I was feeling blue. But I was given a chance to come up with a counter proposal, and from my somewhat depleted creativity, I managed a comeback to create the winning design. I went to Hawaii on my honeymoon feeling great. This is the best part of being a designer.

The first new car that I bought was the Noah, so I felt emotionally attached to this project. Through trial and error, I searched for the color that "I really wanted to create". Imagining where it would look its best, asking workmates their color preferences, creating colors that appeal to my senses, producing the subtle nuances... the days were hectic. Lol. But the feeling of achievement is second to none!! Putting some colorful vibes to the city with this car felt AWESOME.

I strove to model a car that touches people's hearts and also something that I'd want to have; so I fully dedicated myself to this. On my days off, I enjoy going to the mountains and the sea, so it was exciting to sculpt getting inspiration from the amazing shapes created by mother nature. Seeing the actual car that I shaped is overwhelming and I hope to share this excitement with everyone.

As the overall modelling leader for the interior, I've realized a spacious and open environment by focusing on the sketch's appeal and keeping the shape as simple as possible. In particular, the expression of hardness and softness of material around the passenger side cup holder was meticulously executed, with particular attention to detail of up to 1/1000 mm.
