AI Basketball Robot CUE Achieves Second Guinness World Record
We are pleased to announce that the AI basketball robot CUE has achieved its second Guinness World RecordsTM title for the "farthest basketball shot by a humanoid robot" from a distance of 24.55 meters. This accomplishment follows CUE's previous Guinness World Record set in 2019.
The CUE project, which began as an in-house voluntary activity in 2017, has since grown into one of Toyota's most representative endeavors, gaining fans worldwide. This growth has been made possible through the continuous support and encouragement from many people, as well as through repeated challenges and innovations.
We will continue to take on new challenges and strive to bring surprise and excitement to the world. We kindly ask for your continued attention and support for CUE's future endeavors.

- The first generation CUE debuted at the home games of the Alvark Tokyo.
- May 1, 2018
- The CUE project decided to continue as an official task.
- November 24, 2018
- The second generation CUE2 debuted at the home games of the Alvark Tokyo.
- April 10, 2019
- The third generation CUE3 debuted at the home games of the Alvark Tokyo. Its related clips recorded over 30 million views worldwide.
- May 17, 2019
- CUE3 sets a Guinness World Record: "Most consecutive basketball free throws by a humanoid robot (assisted)―2,020."
- November 16, 2019
- The fourth generation CUE4 debuted at the home games of the Alvark Tokyo.
- January 18, 2020
- CUE4 participated in the three-point shootout in the B. League All-Star Game.
- May 10, 2020
- CUE4 won the BREAK THE BORDER AWARD*1 for the B. League Award Show 2019-20.
- July 25-August 8, 2021
- The fifth generation CUE5 debuted and showcased its skills during the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020.
- December 24, 2022
- The sixth generation CUE6 debuted at the home games of the Alvark Tokyo.
- January 13, 2023
- CUE6 participated in the "Skills Challenge" in the B. League All-Star Game.
- September 26, 2024
- CUE6 sets the Guinness World Record for "farthest basketball shot by a humanoid robot."
CUEs played against professional and college basketball players in several TV programs.
