Diversification of Mobility - Achieving Greater Freedom of Mobility
More comfortable and free mobility is important to enrich people's lives with cars. Toyota operates around the world, and the needs and values of our customers differ from region to region and generation to generation. To meet these expectations, we want to offer a diverse selection of products and services.
As one example, we have developed a one-touch wheelchair fastening device for vehicles, utilizing the know-how we have accumulated through the development of welfare vehicles over many years. We are also working to diversify mobility with the "JUU" electric wheelchair, which offers more stress-free getting in and out of the vehicle and also allows the wheelchair to travel on uneven surfaces, such as stairs. This expands the range of activities that can be performed in one's wheelchair, offering further freedom of mobility.
- One-touch wheelchair fastening device
- We have developed a system that allows anyone to easily and firmly secure a wheelchair to a vehicle which supports stress-free movement.
- If this technology spreads, for example, you can take your own car from your home to the bus stop, transfer to a bus to the airport, and fly to your destination. And even stress-free travel by cab or boat at the destination can be realized.
- To achieve this, the automobile and wheelchair industries are working together to create standards. In the future, we will expand the standard not only to automobiles, but also to land, sea, air, and various other forms of mobility to realize even greater freedom of movement.
- JUU (Electric wheelchair)
- Mobility that can go up and down stairs and contributes to barrier-free access
- Able to climb up to 160mm steps and drive over uneven roads
- Electric power steering motor is used for the drive motor to achieve both high torque and safety.
Toyota Motor Corporation works to develop and manufacture innovative, safe and high-quality products and services that create happiness by providing mobility for all. We believe that true achievement comes from supporting our customers, partners, employees, and the communities in which we operate. Since our founding over 80 years ago in 1937, we have applied our Guiding Principles in pursuit of a safer, greener and more inclusive society. Today, as we transform into a mobility company developing connected, automated, shared and electrified technologies, we also remain true to our Guiding Principles and many of the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals to help realize an ever-better world, where everyone is free to move.
