Toyota Invests in Competitive Plants
Toyota announced today that it will build a new plant in Mexico and expand its joint venture, Guangzhou Toyota Motor Co., Ltd. (GTMC), in China. These investments are grounded on its plans to construct production lines that are more competitive, with greatly reduced initial investment, improved efficiency, flexibility, environmental performance and safety. These "simple and slim" production lines can be easily lengthened or shortened depending on demand. Over-head conveyance devices are eliminated, compact equipment is installed on top of the plant floors, and paint-booths are smaller.

Toyota Safety Sense Earns Corolla Full Marks in Japan Preventative Safety Assessment Test
Thanks in part to the first-ever commercial deployment of the newly developed Toyota Safety Sense C collision avoidance support package, the Corolla Fielder and Corolla Axio have earned the top ASV+ rating under the JNCAP Preventive Safety Performance Assessment. Reflecting the high level of their preventative safety capabilities, both vehicles are the first in this fiscal year to receive full marks in the assessment (which was introduced last fiscal year).

Central Motor Co., Ltd. (Central Motor) and Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) held a line-off ceremony today at Central Motor's plant here in Miyagi Prefecture, Japan, to mark the start of mass production of the new Japan-market "Corolla Axio" sedan and "Corolla Fielder" station wagon. On Completion of Production at NUMMI
On April 1, 2010 at 9:21 a.m. (U.S. Pacific Daylight Time), the last Corolla rolled off the production line at NUMMI, marking the end of vehicle production at the plant, which spanned 25 years. The scene was witnessed by many of the team members at the plant. NUMMI was established in 1984 at Fremont, California as a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) and General Motors (GM), and has produced nearly 8 million vehicles throughout its history. Even after production ceased, some team members stayed on for maintenance, cleaning paint guns and replacing tips for welding machines.

Toyota Unveils Flexible-fuel Corolla Models for Brazil
Tokyo―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION (TMC) announced today that Toyota do Brasil Ltda. (TDB) plans to begin selling on May 25 the 100% bioethanol-compatible Corolla Flex and Corolla Fielder Flex, two new locally produced models. TDB, which is TMC's sales and manufacturing subsidiary in Brazil, unveiled the flexible-fuel vehicles at a press event in Guarujá, Brazil on May 22, local time (May 23 in Japan).

FIRST TOYOTA OFF THE LINE AT NEW PLANT IN PAKISTAN
Toyota City―TOYOTA MOTOR CORPORATION, along with Toyota Tsusho Corporation, announced the line-off of the first Corolla at a new plant in Pakistan. The plant has been built as part of a joint venture with the House of Habib's Indus Motor Company Ltd. Approximately 5,000 passenger cars are expected to be built at the plant in 1993. Future output will increase to an annual level of 20,000 vehicles, with plans to produce commercial vehicles, in addition to the Corolla.

Based on production figures through the end of June, 15,040,200 units have been produced domestically.
